ChatGPT just launched its own app, coming to Android soon

Just the other day, Microsoft announced that a Bing Chat widget would be available for smartphones. This allowed users to access Microsoft’s AI (which is powered by a variant of ChatGPT) on their phones instead of having to go to the website, making it a lot more accessible and convenient.

Now it looks like OpenAI doesn’t want to be left behind as the company has since announced that ChatGPT will be getting its own dedicated app as well. Take note that the initial launch of the app will only be available for iOS users, but not to worry as the company has mentioned that an Android version is in the works and will be coming soon.

According to OpenAI, the ChatGPT app will come with features and support for Whisper, which is a speech-recognition system that allows for voice input. It will also come with exclusive GPT-4 capabilities for those who are subscribed to ChatGPT Plus, but for the most part if you’ve used ChatGPT on the web, then the function and capabilities should be more or less the same and familiar to you.

The availability of the app will be rolling out for users in the US first before making its way to more countries in the coming weeks, so if you happen to own an iOS device, you can now take the app for a spin while we wait for the Android version to be released.
