Qualcomm recently confirmed that they will be hosting their Snapdragon Summit in October later this year. This is presumably where the company will be announcing their next-gen chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Now according to leaked benchmarks courtesy of Weibo user NonxCirno, it looks like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be a performance beast. The AnTuTu benchmark scores shared revealed that the chipset managed to obtain a score of 1,771,106. For context, the top three devices on AnTuTu’s benchmarks scored 1,358,352, 1,324,440, and 1,307,816 respectively.
This would suggest that the Gen 3 chipset will be surpassing its predecessor and competitors in the performance department. We suppose we shouldn’t be surprised. If there weren’t any noteworthy upgrades it wouldn’t be very enticing, but at the same time, it was previously rumored that Qualcomm could be using a 10MB L3 cache along with the Adreno 750 GPU, so these upgrades are kind of to be expected.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be used in the majority of flagship phones in 2024, but it has also been rumored that Xiaomi might beat everyone to the punch and use it in the Xiaomi 14 that will be launching by the end of this year.
