Last month, leaked renders revealed what appeared to be the upcoming Fairphone 5, but in terms of specs, it was a little unclear. That is until now, where a report from MySmartPrice has revealed what could potentially be the specs of the phone.
The report is basing this on a Geekbench benchmark listing where it shows that the chipset that will be used will feature an octa-core design. It will also be utilizing the 1 + 3 + 4 configuration, meaning that it will feature a single high-performing core clocked at 2.71GHz, three mid-cores clocking in at 2.4GHz, and four energy efficient cores that have a 1.96GHz clock speed.
It is unclear which Qualcomm chipset will be used, but it seems to sport the codename Lahaina. The phone spotted on the benchmarks also seems to be running on Android 13, which is great because it means users won’t have to wait for an update from Android 12. In terms of RAM, the phone is expected to come with 8GB of RAM, but as MySmartPrice notes, the Fairphone 4 was offered in 6GB and 8GB configurations, so it is possible the Fairphone 5 could go down that same route as well.
There is no word on when the Fairphone 5 is expected to be announced, but hopefully this listing could mean that an announcement is around the corner.
