Samsung Electronics recently announced its latest addition to its ViewFinity monitor lineup with the ViewFinity S9, a 27-inch monitor with smart features. First introduced all the way back at CES, the new monitor comes with a whopping 5K resolution.
Samsung says that the Viewfinity S9’s 5,120 x 2,880 pixel resolution and 281 PPI makes it over 50% bigger than other UHD monitors, and is designed for professionals who are after a high-performance monitor for content creation, production tasks, and more. It also comes with Samsung’s “Smart Calibration” feature, which can be set-up to be used with compatible smartphones. The s9 likewise features support for the Samsung SmartThings app for in-depth display calibration.
For connectivity, the ViewFinity S9 features several hardware ports, which include Thunderbolt 4 and mini DisplayPort inputs, as well as USB-C support. Users can also charge their other devices from the monitor with up to 90W of power, in addition to up to 40 Gbps transfer speeds.
For video calls, there’s a built-in 4K camera that can be attached via pogo pin without additional cables or equipment, alongside built-in speakers for audio. Additionally, the ViewFinity S9 also comes with pre-loaded Smart TV apps, should users decide to use the monitor for a more entertainment-oriented setup. The monitor will come priced at around $1,600 for buyers in North America, which makes it one of the more expensive smart displays on the market.
