ChatGPT will finally launch on Android this week

0

When ChatGPT first launched, it took the world by surprise and by storm, namely because it was shockingly good, scary even. The only problem was that you could only access it on the web, but earlier this year in May, OpenAI announced that they would be launching it on Apple’s iOS platform.

The good news for our Android readers is that if you’ve been feeling a tad envious, you won’t have to much longer. In an announcement by OpenAI, the company has announced that ChatGPT will be launching on Android this week.

The company stopped short of providing a specific release date, but thankfully users who are keen on getting it on their phones can actually pre-register their interest and be notified when the app has been released. It’s actually interesting to see how OpenAI has beaten Google to the punch.

Google’s own Bard AI doesn’t have a dedicated mobile app, forcing users to access it through the web. We imagine Google might eventually create a dedicated Bard app in the future, but until they do, ChatGPT could be worth checking out when it is eventually released.

ChatGPT, for the most part, is free to use. If you’re not really a power user and just want to access the AI from time to time, you can do so for free. There is a ChatGPT Plus subscription at $20 a month that comes with priority access and exclusive new features, but you don’t have to subscribe if you don’t really have a use for them.
