With the ever-growing onslaught of foldable devices out on the market, Xiaomi has recently announced that its latest flexible Android handset – the Mix Fold 3 – is set to launch soon, and will feature hardware co-developed by Leica. Scheduled to be revealed sometime in August, the Mix 3 has already been initially “teased” online. A formal announcement from a Xiaomi representative reads:
With the joint efforts of Xiaomi and Leica, we have successfully created the latest solution of “Leica Optical Full-Focus Quad Camera” in the thin and strong body structure of MIX Fold 3. This flagship cooperation work between the two parties will be released in August.”
According to a report online, the two companies co-developed the Mix Fold 3’s quad-camera setup, which is expected to come with OIS motors, high-lens sheets, miniaturized periscope telephoto modules, and a stacked design, which is referred to as the “Leica Optical Four-Camera.”
In terms of internal hardware, it’s expected that the MIX Fold 3 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and will come with support for 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi has also added some design changes, such as a water drop hinge design that supposedly improves anti-drop performance while keeping the overall design thin and lightweight.
