Google working on improved Gboard resizing options

0

The size of smartphone keyboards are generally a one-size-fits-all kind of deal, where presumably they have been designed to accommodate the average user’s hands/fingers. But this means that those with smaller or larger than average fingers could end up having a slightly tougher time.

The good news is that if you’re a Gboard user, a report from 9to5Google has revealed that Google is working on an update to Gboard where it will now introduce more granular options when it comes to customizing the size of the onscreen keyboard.

Prior to this, Google did give users the option of resizing their keyboards, but they were fixed presets which means that in some cases, it might still not be the perfect fit for some users. With this update, users can actually drag the keyboard until it’s the right size for them. This is similar to the Samsung Keyboard, so while it’s not new, it’s good to see that Google is bringing the feature to Gboard for non-Samsung users.

That being said, don’t get too excited at trying out this feature just yet. The new resizing options are part of the latest Gboard beta, so unless you’re in the beta you won’t see it until Google rolls it out to the public.
