When the Samsung Galaxy S23 launched, it came with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This would be the chipset that the majority of flagship phones in 2023 would use, but Samsung had an edge as their version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was clocked faster than the competition.
It looks like Samsung could be continuing their exclusive partnership with Qualcomm in 2024. According to benchmarks spotted on Geekbench, it looks like the upcoming Galaxy S24 could end up using a faster version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. How do we know this?
This is based on similar listings on Geekbench of the Nubia RedMagic 9, which is also expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The handset has been listed as having a score of 1596 and 5977 for its single and multi-cores, but an earlier listing for the Galaxy S24 revealed single and multi-core scores of 2233 and 6661 respectively, hinting at a faster performance.
Now, whether or not this is important remains to be seen. It is not often that we use apps that push our phones to its limits which means that for day-to-day tasks of messaging, surfing the web, and checking emails, the additional speed probably won’t matter as much, but we suppose it could be used as a marketing point for Samsung.
