New report seemingly confirms Pixel 8’s price hike

When the Google Pixel 7a was launched, it was priced at $50 more than its predecessor, the Pixel 6a. This means that to further differentiate the Pixel 7a from the upcoming Pixel 8 phones and to make it seem more like a budget-friendly phone, it was rumored that Google could be increasing the price of the Pixel 8.

Now according to a report from Dealabs Magazine, those rumors could be true as they have published the prices of the upcoming Pixel 8 and 8 Pro on its website. Assuming these prices are accurate, the 128GB Pixel 8 is rumored to cost €799, while the 256GB model will cost €859.

As for the Pixel 8 Pro, it will be priced starting at €1,099 for the 128GB model, €1,159 for the 256GB model, and €1,299 for the 512GB model. This is quite a huge jump in price of around €150 as the Pixel 7 is currently sold for around €649. It is unclear what the new prices will be in the US since direct conversion isn’t always the most accurate of indicators, but based on this, no doubt we will be seeing a price hike in the US as well.

With such a huge jump in price, it could be a hard sell. One of the things about Google’s Pixel phones is that generally, they are cheaper compared to competing flagships. Plus the fact that users get a cleaner and more optimized Android experience, along with timely updates, makes it a pretty good phone. With these new prices, we’re sure that there will be some who might seek out alternate brands instead.
