Don’t expect to see the Samsung Galaxy Ring anytime soon

0

We have been hearing rumors that Samsung could be working on a new wearable in the form of the Galaxy Ring, a potential competitor to other similar wearables like the Oura. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it could be launching anytime soon.

This is according to a report from Korean publication The Elec in which they claim that Samsung is still developing the device. Apparently Samsung has tried to include too many features in the wearable, causing it to become a bit too large based on the pre-production samples.

This means that Samsung will have to go back to the drawing board and figure out which features they want to drop in order to reduce its overall size. The report also claims that Samsung wants to offer the ring in four different sizes which could complicate things as the smaller version could also mean that Samsung will need to find a way to get everything to fit.

Another potential issue that could cause its delay is medical certification. Wearables like our smartwatches come with certain medical functions, like an ECG monitor, SpO2 tracker, and so on, some of which need to be cleared by a country’s regulatory body first before being released.

If Samsung decides to forgo on medical certification, it could result in the device launching earlier. It is estimated that it might see a release in the third quarter of 2024 or possibly even in 2025, so if you were hoping to see it launch alongside the Galaxy S24 series, you might be disappointed.
