If the rumors are true, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series launching in 2024 might not be a huge upgrade and would be more of an iterative upgrade. But if there’s one area that Samsung will be massively improving upon, it would be its display.
According to the latest rumors, the main upgrade that can be quite literally seen would be in the display department where Samsung is said to be boosting the brightness and resolution. All three models – the Galaxy S24, the Galaxy S24+, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra – are rumored to get a brighter display that can hit peak brightness of 2,500 nits.
This is versus the Galaxy S23 which has a peak brightness of 1,750 nits. This is quite a huge jump and could be useful for users who find themselves outdoors a lot in direct sunlight, so having a brighter display could make the phone easier to see. This is thanks to the use of Samsung Display’s M13 OLED panel.
The rumors are also claiming that for the Galaxy S24+, there will be an upgrade in the resolution as well, bumping it from FHD+ in the Galaxy S23+ to QHD+. Assuming there’s no change in the display size, it will increase the overall pixel density that on paper will result in the UI looking sharper.
The Galaxy S24 series is expected to launch in early 2024 and previous rumors have suggested Samsung could return to a more traditional flat display rather than a curved one. There are also claims that the handset could see Samsung introduce the Exynos 2400 which will be used in the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ depending on the region it’s sold in, while the Ultra model will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 worldwide.
