Bluetti’s new portable AC2A and AC70 power stations gives you power no matter where you go

I never really liked the idea of camping. Being away from the modern comforts that we’ve gotten so used to makes camping a concept hard to grasp. But that was way back in the day where camping felt a lot more primitive.

These days, modern technology has come along so far where you can now enjoy the great outdoors but still have access to certain creature comforts. This is thanks to power stations, the modern equivalent of the power generator that can be used to power gadgets like heaters, lights, charge your phone and laptop, and more.

Now, power stations come in a variety of shapes and sizes, some of which are designed to have a more permanent placement in your home. But if you prefer something portable, then Bluettii’s got you covered as the company has since announced two new portable power station solutions – the AC2A and the AC70.

Small and portable

Both the AC2A and AC70 were designed to be portable power solutions. Depending on your needs and preference, either model will work as a portable power station. If you prefer something small and compact that can fit under your car seat or in the trunk, the AC2A could be a better choice.

It measures 9.8 x 5.9 x 7.1-inches and only weighs 3.6kg, which is honestly pretty crazy light considering all of its features. Of course, this also means that you’ll be sacrificing a bit of battery life/size in the process, where the AC2A’s battery is rated at 204.8Wh. If you need something that has a longer-lasting battery, then the AC70 could be a better fit.

Its battery is rated at 768Wh so it should last you more than three times longer, but at the same time, you’ll be sacrificing size and portability. It measures 12.4 x 8.2 x 10.1-inches and weighs 10.2kg, making it considerably heavier than the AC2A. It is still most definitely portable and you can hand-carry it without any issues, but its size also means that it will take up a bit more space in your RV or your car’s trunk.

Power just about anything

For those who are always on the road and need to keep their gadgets charged, both the AC2A and AC70 are more than capable of getting that done, whether you need to charge your phone, tablet, laptop, Bluetooth speakers, or cameras. In fact, it’s pretty much a given that even a power bank will be capable of doing that.

The main difference, however, lies in the power output of the AC2A and AC70. The AC2A can put out up to 300W of power, while the AC70 is more powerful with a power output that can go up to 1,000W, allowing users to charge and power devices and appliances that might need more power.

This doesn’t mean that they’re confined to those numbers, though. If you need that extra boost in power, maybe to power something that has a higher energy consumption, users can activate power lifting mode in the Bluetti app that will give these power stations an extra boost.

With the AC2A, it can enjoy a power surge up to 600W, while the AC70 can peak at 2,000W.

Long-lasting battery

Both the Bluetti AC2A and AC70 rely on the use of LiFePO4 batteries. Unlike regular lithium-ion batteries which are typically found in our phones, laptops, tablets, and power banks, LiFePO4 batteries are designed to be more long-lasting in terms of the number of cycles it supports.

According to Bluetti, the LiFePO4 batteries found in the AC2A and AC70 are rated for about 3,000 cycles before the batteries hit the 80% capacity. This means that if you were to use either power station on a daily basis and recharge it to full every single day, it would take you about 8 years to hit the 80% mark.
By then, chances are you might have already upgraded your current model, but even if you haven’t, 80% is still a pretty decent capacity that should still be able to last you for a bit.

The built-in batteries also support quick charging. The company claims that it will only take about 45 minutes to charge your power station’s batteries up to 80%, so unless you have a need for 100% battery, 45 minutes to charge it to 80% is actually pretty damn fast, especially if you’re in a hurry.

Speaking of charging, both the AC2A and AC70 support solar charging in addition to wired charging from a power outlet. If you’re constantly on the go, being able to access a power outlet might not always be possible, so having the option to harness the sun’s energy to recharge the power stations will be a pretty useful feature to have.

Pricing & availability

If you’re sold on either the Bluetti AC2A or the AC70, they will be available for purchase from Bluetti’s website and Amazon starting on the 2nd of November. The company has declined to mention how much the new power stations will cost, so be sure to head on over to Bluetti’s website on the 17th of November to check it out and to place your order.
