As we get nearer and nearer to the launch of OnePlus’ upcoming flagship OnePlus 12, we’ve been seeing a ton of rumors and leaks online, and it looks like a new report claims that the phone’s camera setup will feature a new CMOS sensor from Sony.

More specifically, a post on Chinese social media website Weibo claims that the OnePlus 12 will come equipped with Sony’s new Lytia dual-stacked sensor. According to the post (translated from Chinese):

[OnePlus 12] will be the world’s premiere of the high-end sensor jointly developed by OnePlus and @SONY Semiconductor – LYTIA ! The new generation of Sony’s LYTIA light embodies beauty with light and opens up a new future for mobile imaging.

Essentially, the new CMOS sensor comes with separate layers for the transistor, as well as the photodiode layers – this allows for more light capture on the device’s camera.

In other recent OnePlus leaks, the team over at 91mobiles published a report indicating that the OnePlus 12 will pack a 2K-resolution display with an LTPO panel, with an adaptive refresh rate. Additionally, it’s expected that the OnePlus 12 might use an algorithm which allows it to adjust its brightness for better outdoor visibility.

It will also use what is being called a “sunlight-highlighting algorithm” that improves visibility outdoors, and it could also utilize Oppo’s P1 display chip and BOE’s “single-pixel calibrating technology”
