There’s nothing wrong with the concept of foldable phones. The main issue we have is durability, where obviously the hinge and display has a finite number of flips/folds before it stops working properly. But it turns out with the Oppo Find N3 and Find N3 Flip, you won’t have to worry about it.
This is because Oppo has managed to secure official certification from TUV Rheinland, in which it was found that both phones are capable of being durable enough to withstand 1 million folds! Yes, you read that right, 1 million freaking folds! This means that even if you were to open and close the phones 100 times a day, it would last you 16 years before it broke.
When Oppo first launched the phones, the company boasted 600,000 folds, but this certification suggests that Oppo might have been a bit modest with their claims. Of course, no one is going to use a phone for 16 years, but the point is that other accidents notwithstanding, users won’t have to worry about the hinge/display breaking because of too many folds.
We’re not sure what kind of testing methodology was used and since everyone opens and closes their phones differently with different levels of strength, the experience may vary from user to user, but it’s still an impressive claim nonetheless.
