Building on its wide array of hardware and software products and services, Samsung recently announced that its HARMAN brand has finalized its acquisition of Roon, a music management and streaming platform.
For those unfamiliar with the brand, Roon functions as a music player platform for listeners, and includes features such as an interface for users to browse and explore music, support for a wide range of audio hardware, and support for major operating systems including Nucleus, a line of hardware server appliances. Dave Rogers, President of Harman’s Lifestyle Division comments:
“At HARMAN we take great pride in our ability to create exceptional audio experiences for our partners and consumers around the world. The team at Roon shares our passion in bringing exceptional sound and connectivity to music lovers as they browse, discover, and listen at home and on the go. We are looking forward to welcoming Roon, whose impressive talent will join the HARMAN family and bolster our already robust engineering capabilities.”
Harman maintains that Roon will continue to function as a standalone Harman business with its existing team, and that Roon operations will stay in place and continue to work with device partners and customers under a joint mission to deliver engaging and personalized audio experiences across a universe of products and platforms.
This recent acquisition is geared towards Harman’s ‘work with all’ strategy, which involves collaborating with more than 160 other audio brands to deliver audio to more than 1000 high-performance devices.
