One of the things we don’t really like about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series of foldable phones is that the outer display looks really weird. This is because Samsung has gone for an unconventional aspect ratio where the outer display is narrower/thinner compared to more traditional smartphones.
That is expected to change with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, at least according to a post made on Naver where the leaker claims that the aspect ratio is expected to change for the next model. The post does not mention what kind of new aspect ratio we can expect, but hopefully it will be something that looks more “normal”.
We’ve already seen this adopted by other foldable phones like the OnePlus Open and the Google Pixel Fold, so hopefully that’s the route that Samsung will be taking. One of the problems with the Galaxy Z Fold series is that due to the weird outer display, it makes it a little troublesome to use when the phone is folded shut.
At least with phones like the Pixel Fold and OnePlus Open, users still have the option to use the phone like a regular smartphone if they’d rather not keep folding the phone open and shut. Take this report with a grain of salt for now as we’re still quite a ways away from the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s launch.
