There have been rumors of a Nintendo Switch 2 for a long time now, but Nintendo has repeatedly denied those rumors. Could 2024 be the year we finally see its release? That’s what a report from GamesIndustry.biz claims according to Dr. Serkan Toto, the CEO of Kantan Games.
According to the CEO, he predicts that the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch in 2024. In some ways it’s expected given how old the Switch is at the moment, so a successor does seem like it could be in the cards. The CEO also went on to suggest that the Switch 2 could see a price hike from $300, which was how much the original Switch cost, to $400.
He also claims that Nintendo might follow in the footsteps of Sony and Microsoft where the price of triple A games will be increased to $70 as well. If that is the case, it might be hard to make an argument for the Switch and its games, although it does have the advantage over Sony and Microsoft’s consoles as it can double up as a handheld as well.
Whether or not Nintendo will actually debut the Switch 2 this year remains to be seen, but if you’re holding out for it, then you might want to increase your budget by a bit, especially if this prediction were to come true.
