Lenovo “Flexes” its New Thinkbook Plus Hybrid at CES

0

CES 2024 has no shortage of cool and interesting tech products, and Lenovo’s latest Thinkbook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid computer-slash-tablet definitely falls into this category. The Gen 5 is the very definition of “hybrid”, and goes all-out with versatile functionality, giving users the convenience of both an Android tablet, as well as a Windows laptop.

Lenovo describes the device as a game-changer, and has designed the Gen 5 Hybrid with two main parts – the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid Station which can be used by itself with an external display, and the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid Tablet, a detachable standalone device.

With the tablet attached to the station, the Gen 5 Hybrid can work as a Windows 11 laptop with a 14-inch, 2.8K OLED screen, and users can also use the Hybrid Station with a larger external display for a full desktop experience. The device also comes with a “Hybrid Stream” feature, allowing users to stream Android apps via picture-in-picture mode.

Interestingly, the tablet is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, while the Station comes with its own Intel Core Ultra 7 processor. Both components also come with their own separate batteries, which allows more flexibility during use.

It’s certainly an interesting approach as far as portable computing goes, although it does come at a considerable price point – the Thinkbook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid will cost around $2,000, and will be available starting in Q2 2024.
