The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is launching next week. We know most of the specs of the phone already, such as the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and Exynos 2400, depending on your region. But there was no mention of its wireless charging capabilities, at least until a recent video showed off what could be Qi2 wireless charging for the Samsung Galaxy S24.
The video shows the Galaxy Book 4 laptops which were announced in 2023. In one section of the video, it shows a phone mounted onto a stand without the use of cables or hooks to hold it up. This is essentially how Qi2 works, leading to speculation that the Galaxy S24 series could support the new wireless charging standard.
But before you get too excited, 9to5Google warns that there is a very good chance that the Samsung Galaxy S24 might not support Qi2. Previous rumors made no mention of Qi2. The late finalization of Qi2 likely prevented Samsung from incorporating it into their design.
Also, we want to point out that a recent report suggests that the S Pen is sensitive to magnets, so the use of Qi2 could have a negative impact on its functionality. That is another reason why Samsung could skip Qi2 for the Galaxy S24 series. Obviously you should take this with a grain of salt for now, but with the phones launching on the 17th of January, we should have the details soon enough.
