Phones these days cost too much, but that’s the price we have to pay to own bleeding edge tech. If you’re not that fussy and want a solid performer that won’t break the bank, you’re in luck. Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has announced its latest lineup of affordable smartphones – the Redmi Note 13 series.
There are actually five different phones that are part of the Redmi Note 13 series. This includes the base Redmi Note 13 and Note 13 5G, followed by the higher end Note 13 Pro and Pro 5G models, and the “top-of-the-line” Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G.
Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G
This is basically the “best” model of the entire lineup. The MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra will be its chipset of choice. It will be accompanied by 8-12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Its display measures 6.67-inch and it uses CrystalRes AMOLED display technology with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus.
There will be a 200MP main camera flanked by two other cameras, one in the 8MP ultrawide variety, and a 2MP macro. The phone will also pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 120W HyperCharge fast-charging technology.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is priced starting at $400.
Redmi Note 13 Pro & Pro 5G
Both these phones share a very similar name, but one of the main differences is that the Note 13 Pro only supports LTE connectivity, while the Note 13 Pro 5G supports 5G. There are other differences as well.
The MediaTek Helio G99-Ultra chipset drives the non-5G model, whereas the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 powers the 5G model.
The displays are also different. The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G comes with a 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1,800 nits, while the non-5G model has a peak brightness of 1,300 nits. Both support 120Hz refresh rates, but the 5G model uses a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus display while the other uses Corning® Gorilla Glass 5.
The RAM and storage options are the same across both models. Both come with 8-12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The 5G version also has a slightly larger 5,100mAh battery, while the non-5G model has a 5,000mAh battery but both will support 67W turbo charging.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G is priced starting at $304. The Redmi Note 13 Pro will retail for $250.
Redmi Note 13, Note 13 5G
Both the Redmi Note 13 and Note 13 5G are the designated budget-friendly models, but they do come with expandable storage of up to 1TB. If storage is a primary concern of yours, then this feature might come in handy.
The 5G model uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6080, while the non-5G model uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 chipset. Both models come with 6-8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage, but as we mentioned, they both support expandable storage. The cameras are also identical.
Both phones feature a triple camera setup consisting of a 108MP main shooter, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro. Both displays also measure 6.67-inches with 120Hz refresh rates, but interestingly, the 5G model has a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. This is versus the non-5G model that has a brighter display at 1,800 nits.
