A rumor from 2023 hinted that Samsung is working on a new wearable in the form of a smart ring. Those rumors turned out to be right because during the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung confirmed it.
At the event, Samsung officially announced the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, but towards the end of the show, Samsung briefly showcased the upcoming smart ring. Samsung did not provide any details so it is still unclear what we can expect from it. At the very least it has been confirmed, so now it’s just a matter of when.

Don’t hold your breath, though. We did hear that it is still in development and certification for the ring’s alleged medical/health features could delay it further. An earlier report indicated that it could either launch in the third quarter of 2024 or maybe 2025. We’re not sure how we feel about smart rings, but it looks like it will be a good alternative for those who’d rather not wear a smartwatch.
Smartwatches and fitness trackers dominate the market for health-related wearables. The most notable smart ring in the market right now is the Oura Ring, so it will be interesting to see how the Samsung smart ring will stack up against it.
