One of the main draws of the new Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphones is the inclusion of AI features. These features are honestly pretty cool and we can’t wait to take it for a spin. But what about those with older Galaxy phones? Does Samsung expect them to buy the new Galaxy S24 just to try out these AI features? Thankfully the answer is no.
Samsung has confirmed in a statement to Android Authority that they are bringing some of the Galaxy S24’s AI features to older Galaxy phones in a future update. The company will release this update in the first half of 2024, but they haven’t specified a date yet. Samsung also confirms that it will arrive for the Galaxy S23 series, the Galaxy S23 FE, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series.
Unfortunately, Samsung does not mention which of the Galaxy S24’s AI features will arrive for the older Galaxy phones. We’re not sure why not all the AI features will be ported to these devices, but chances are it could be due to hardware limitations. One of the features of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is its ability to support AI.
It is possible that the chipsets used in these other phones might not be as capable when it comes to more complex AI features. Either way, it’s still a good thing as it means that users won’t have to splurge just to gain access to these new AI tools.
