Before the Samsung Galaxy S24 was officially launched, some worrying rumors made an appearance. These rumors suggested that Samsung might offer its AI features for free for a limited time. Once that time is up, the company could start charging users access to it. It turns out the rumors are true.
According to the Galaxy S24’s listing on Samsung’s website, a footnote at the bottom of the page confirms it. It reads, “Galaxy AI features will be provided for free until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. Different terms may apply for AI features provided by third parties.”
This means that users can look forward to enjoying these AI features for at least two years before Samsung starts imposing an access fee. We are disappointed by this. The company does not disclose their pricing plans or provide insight into the type of model they might be considering.
Google offers its AI features on its Pixel 8 phones for free. We don’t see why Samsung can’t do the same, especially with the price they are charging for their phones. We can’t really blame Samsung for trying to turn a profit, but we don’t think it should be done at the expense of the user experience.
Maybe Samsung could toss in other services as part of this AI subscription fee, but we won’t know until they officially announce these plans.
