While it still hasn’t announced its rumored non-Nokia branded smartphones, HMD Global announced a new color option for the Nokia G22, which is now available in a “So Peach” model. The company announced the new G22 variant on its social media pages, with the phone itself now available on HMD’s Nokia website.
The G22 was touted as one of the most easily-repairable smartphones available to consumers, earning it a spot in TIME Magazine’s list of “Best Inventions of 2023”. In terms of hardware, the phone comes with a Unisoc T606 chipset, a 6.5” HD+ display upfront with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 50MP main camera with 2MP macro and depth cameras, and an 8MP front-facing camera. Powering the phone is a 5050 mAh battery, which Nokia brands as a “QuickFix” repairable battery.
Speaking of HMD, the company has slowly been moving towards establishing a brand of its own, which (at least at the moment) will be a separate entity from the Nokia line of smartphones. A while back, a leaked image revealed an upcoming HMD phone without the Nokia logo. It was also reported that the company has about six new smartphone models in the works, although nothing official has been mentioned by HMD itself.
