Tidal just slashed the price of its HiFi plan to be A LOT cheaper

When Tidal first launched, the company tried to differentiate itself from the competition by offering a high quality streaming option. This was priced considerably higher than what everyone else was charging. It looks like it didn’t stick because Tidal has announced that they will be lowering the price of its HiFi plan.

If you’re not familiar with the Tidal HiFi plan, it costs $20 a month. It gives users access to music streaming at 24-bit, 192kHz, and includes support for HiRes FLAC, Dolby Atmos, and more. For the most part, most users probably can’t tell the difference, but it was an option for those who are a bit more particular about their audio quality.

Now with this change, Tidal has basically merged its various tiers into a single subscription. This new TIDAL tier is priced at $10.99 a month which is the same price as Spotify Premium. Users will be able to enjoy all the benefits of the previous HiFi Plus tier at a much lower price. Users who subscribed to the family plan are being moved to a new TIDAL Family plan at $16.99 a month.

This isn’t all good news though. Tidal’s announcement also revealed that the company is axing its TIDAL Free tier. This means that if you were a free subscriber, you’ll need to start paying for a subscription to keep using the service. These changes will come into effect on the 10th of April, 2024.
