Beta software is a great way for users to take a peek at what kind of new features are coming. However, developers do not necessarily create them for daily use due to potential bugs and unresolved issues. Unfortunately for some Pixel owners, they are finding that the latest Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 is soft-bricking their devices.
This is according to a report from 9to5Google and other user reports posted on Reddit. Users sideloading the latest Android 14 beta are discovering that it soft-bricks their devices. This condition renders the phone unusable, but you can fix it quite easily.
This means that if you run into this issue, sideloading the previous Beta 1 OTA will get your phone back up and running. That being said, not all Pixel phones are affected by this issue. It is unclear why it is affecting some and not others as there are some comments by owners of the Pixel Fold who had no issues with the Beta 2 OTA update.
Either way, this does highlight one of the potential issues of using beta software. Hopefully Google is now aware of the problem and are working on a fix. If the update soft-bricks your Pixel phone, simply sideload the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1, and you should be good.
