As the race for AI dominance in modern mobile computing continues to grow ever fiercer, we’ve witnessed a ton of big names in the industry integrate GenAI capabilities into their hardware and software offerings, and this is especially true within the smartphone market, as both OEMs and component manufacturers relentlessly pour R&D into new products.
Speaking of the latter, MediaTek is expected to unveil its latest powerhouse chipset in the form of the Dimensity 9300+, which will most likely double-down on the GenAI features introduced by the company in earlier products. According to a post on Chinese social media site Weibo, the company will hold a special event on May 7 for the chip’s 9300+’s announcement.
It’s rumored that the new chipset will pack much higher CPU performance courtesy of the prime Cortex-X4 core inside, which runs at up to 3.4Ghz, versus 3.25GHz on the non-plus model; this is in addition to a dedicated AI processing unit within the chip. It’s also speculated that Vivo might be the first OEM to offer the new SoC in an upcoming phone.
In any case, we’re bound to know more once MediaTek formally unveils the 9300+.
