The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra launched with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W charging. It’s a decently-sized battery and while 45W isn’t as fast as some of the competition, it’s decent. If you were hoping to see a battery upgrade in the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, think again.
According to a post on X by Sawyer Galox, it seems that Samsung has abandoned their plans to improve the battery situation in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Apparently Samsung was thinking of using a stacked battery design that could improve the battery capacity and charging speeds in the phone.
Unfortunately, due to apparent “cost” reasons, the company decided to stick with the current battery and charging speeds. Like we said, a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging isn’t bad. It’s kind of decent, but at the same time we’re sure that many customers would have liked to see an upgrade.
In a way it makes sense. We’ve heard the rumors that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could be pricier than its predecessor. If that’s the case, Samsung probably needs to cut some costs if they want to maintain their profit margins.
The post now claims that a stacked battery design with 65W charging could make an appearance in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The handset is due for a launch in 2026 so don’t hold your breath just yet.
