When Google first launched their Chromebook Plus lineup of laptops, Acer was one of the first few companies to get on board with it. If you’re looking for some updated models, then you’re in luck. Acer has since announced a couple of new Chromebook Plus laptops that come with Gemini AI in it.
These new laptops come in the form of the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 and Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE. The former is a laptop-tablet hybrid, while the latter, according to Acer, is designed to be a cloud gaming-optimized laptop. While they’re both aimed at different users, they do share one thing in common – Gemini AI.
Google recently announced that they would be bringing Gemini AI to its Chromebook Plus computers. This will unlock features like generative wallpapers and video backgrounds, as well as editing features like the Magic Editor for Google Photos. These are some of the AI features that you can expect to see in Acer’s new laptops as well.
As for hardware, the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 will feature a 14-inch WUXGA touchscreen display. It has an Intel Core Ultra 5 115U processor under the hood with 8GB of LPDDR5 SDRAM and 256GB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. It features an aluminum chassis that Acer claims is MIL-STD 810 certified. The laptop comes with a battery life that is good for up to 10 hours.
As for the Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE, this is Acer’s take on a Chromebooki gaming laptop. It has a larger 16-inch WQXGA display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, users can find an Intel Core i5 processor 120U with Intel Graphics, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and a 256GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. Gamers will be able to stream games from NVIDIA’s GeForce Now gaming service.
The Spin 714 will retail starting at $749.99, while the 516 GE will be priced starting at $699.99. Both laptops are expected to be made available this May.
