YouTube Rolls out Bite-sized Games with its Playables Feature

0

A while back, YouTube announced the arrival of its then-new “Playables” feature for Premium subscribers, which gives access to small mini games without the need for additional downloads on the user’s part. While its initial approach to the feature seemed more like a beta test of sorts, it looks like the massively-popular content streaming platform is launching the feature for more YouTube users.

The feature is available on the latest version of the YouTube app for Android and iOS, and can be accessed via desktop browsers as well. There are more than 75 games to choose from including Angry Birds ShowdownWords of WondersCut the RopeTomb of the Mask, and Trivia Crack, and there’s even support for saves and top score tracking.

If you think that the feature seems a bit familiar, then you’re not alone – we’ve seen this before on Google’s now-dead Stadia platform, as well as Samsung’s “Instant Plays” feature. If you’re not seeing the option on your device yet, then fear not – YouTube says that it will be rolling out the feature to more regions in the coming months.
