Perhaps in addition to Google and Samsung, Nothing is one of the handful of Android manufacturers who manage to consistently roll out regular software patches for their devices, and it looks like the latest Nothing OS 2.5.6 has finally started to arrive for the Phone 2a.

With the new update, users can now hide the navigation bar completely, and multitasking during calls is easier with the option to allow notifications from other apps. Long-pressing widgets on the home screen unlocks a new shortcut menu for quicker access to frequently used functions, and the update likewise features the latest security patch.

Meanwhile, the camera app gets improvements for HDR detection, and audio quality for USB earphones is now more optimized as well. For gaming, Nothing has made tweaks to the 2a’s temperature management during gameplay for a cooler experience.

The update also addresses several bugs, including the “No SIM card” prompt which will now display correctly during first boot without a SIM card inserted, slow icon loading, as well as Android Auto functionality improvements. Users can head on over to Settings > System > System Update to get the latest features.
