One of the reasons why the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series has been more popular than its larger fold sibling is due to price. We wouldn’t go as far as calling it cheap. But it is affordable as far as foldable phones are concerned. Unfortunately, it looks like the value proposition is about to go away as the potential price of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has been revealed.
According to prices revealed by European retailers, it seems that we might have an idea of how much the Flip 6 could cost. The phone is expected to be priced at €1,339.99 for the 256GB model and €1,466.99 for the 512GB model. For context, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 was launched at €1,199 for the 256GB model and €1,319 for the 512GB model.
This means that we’re looking at a price increase of about €240 for the base model and €350 for the 512GB model. That’s quite a leap! Note that these prices are in euros. We’re not sure how much it will be when it launches stateside. If Samsung is hiking the price of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in Europe, we expect it will be the same in the US.
Like we said, this destroys the value proposition of the phone. It used to be relatively affordable if you wanted a flip phone with flagship hardware. Now at these prices, it could drive customers away. Take these figures with a grain of salt for now. Samsung is expected to host an event on the 10th of July, so check back then for the details.
