We expect that later this year (hopefully), Samsung will release the Android 15 update for its phones. In Samsung’s case, this will probably come in the form of One UI 7. This is basically Samsung’s take on Android 15 where we’ll get the underlying Android updates, as well as several new Samsung exclusive features.
Samsung typically releases a new major One UI update every year with every major Android version. But this year could be different. According to tipster Ice Universe in a post on X, One UI 7 could be Samsung’s biggest update yet. The post claims that the update will be the “most changed version in the history of One UI”.
We’re not sure what that means, but the post claims that icons are being redrawn. This means that the UI update could see some drastic design changes. This is great news because while Samsung has tweaked the look of One UI over its history, it feels more of the same.
Having a brand new UI, or at least major updates to its design, will be a breath of fresh air. You could argue that having a new UI could make it confusing for users, but a change every now and then is a good thing. Apple and Google have adopted this approach over the years, where every now and then we see updates to the design language and UI.
