AI and Apple Intelligence was at the forefront of Apple’s WWDC event. It is expected that the new AI features will make its debut on the iPhone 16 series. That may no longer be the case, at least not on launch day. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple Intelligence could skip the iPhone 16 at launch.
Before you get your pitchforks out, Apple is bringing Apple Intelligence to the iPhone 16, but you might have to wait. The report claims that the new AI features will be rolled out at a later date, possibly in October. The iPhone 16 is expected to launch with iOS 18, which is the latest version of iOS Apple announced at WWDC 2024.
However, the key features like Apple Intelligence, will come later. In fact, it is expected that not all Apple Intelligence features could be released this year. We’ve heard reports that Apple plans to gradually introduce them via software updates towards the later part of 2024. It could even roll into the first half of 2025.
This is kind of a bummer. For all the fuss Apple made about AI during their event, it seems that users will have to wait quite a bit before they get to experience it in full. On the other hand, we’re also kind of glad Apple isn’t rushing it out. Apple has had their fair share of disastrous launches. This includes Siri, which until today is still useless, and the whole Apple Maps fiasco.
