Google’s Circle to Search is coming to the desktop

0

Google Lens is a pretty useful tool to help you search for items within images. But Google gave it an AI boost with the Circle to Search feature that made its way onto mobile devices like the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and some Pixel smartphones. If you’ve always wanted to try Circle to Search on your PC, it looks like the feature is coming to the desktop.

According to a report from 9to5Google, it appears that Google is testing out the feature for desktops. The feature can be found in the latest betas for ChromeOS 127 and Chrome 128. This means that it shouldn’t be too long before it makes its way to the general public.

The feature is rather straightforward to use. For those using a ChromeOS computer, you can find the feature next to the bookmark star in the browser. If you’re on Windows or macOS, it is found in the overflow menu in an option called “Search with Google Lens”. When you click on it, you just drag your mouse and “circle” the item you want to search for.

At the moment there’s a sort of similar feature in Chrome’s “Search image with Google” feature. The main difference is that it only works with images. Circle to Search, on the other hand, works with pretty much anything you see on screen.
