Sonos’ Troubles Continue with Personnel Layoffs

0

Things haven’t been going so well for Sonos – following a multitude of user complaints about app updates that resulted in connection issues for its devices, the company recently confirmed that it will be laying off up to a hundred people from its workforce, around the same time that the company is expected to spend millions trying to fix its ill-fated app update.

Speaking to the folks over at The Verge, company CEO Patrick Spence states:

We made the difficult decision to say goodbye to approximately 100 team members representing 6 percent of the company. This action was a difficult, but necessary, measure to ensure continued, meaningful investment in Sonos’ product roadmap while setting Sonos up for long term success.

For those unfamiliar, Sonos rolled out an update which caused problems for users, with some unable to use their devices due to troublesome connection problems. The issue has remained a thorn in the side of many users since.

This isn’t the first instance in recent times that the company has laid off people – back in June 2023, Sonos also terminated around 130 people, citing “continued headwinds” as a primary cause. With all that being said, the company has yet to issue a definite timeline for the app fix.
