Windows 11 upgrade prompts on Windows 10 will get less annoying
Generally speaking, it’s always a good idea to run the latest version of any particular software. However, we get it, some people are so used to an older version that they don’t want to upgrade. Luckily if you’re a Windows 10 user, Microsoft is about to make those Windows 11 upgrade prompts less annoying.
According to a report from Windows Latest, it seems that Microsoft has acknowledged how annoying those prompts are. So much so that Microsoft will hit the pause button on those prompts starting in the April 2024 security update. This doesn’t mean that Microsoft has given up trying to get Windows 10 users to update to Windows 11, it’s just that they’ll now figure out a different way.
Prior to this, some Windows 10 users would see a full-screen prompts asking them to upgrade to Windows 11. These prompts essentially serve as an ad for Windows 11, reminding users about the benefits if they were to switch from Windows 10 to Windows 11. While we get where Microsoft is coming from, full screen prompts do feel very intrusive.
We get that there are benefits to updating, but like we said, some people are fine with Windows 10. The update to Windows 11 isn’t as drastic compared to Windows 7 going into Windows 8, but it does require some getting used to. Plus, not everyone needs the new features. Hopefully this change will make it less annoying for users moving forwards.
