You’ll Need to Fully Replace your Pixel Watch 3 if it Ever Breaks

While there’s little doubt that Google’s new Pixel Watch 3 comes with some pretty good upgrades over its predecessor (including a larger model), some concerns over its repairability – or lack thereof – have recently come to light, and it’s not looking too good for folks who might break their Pixel Watch 3.

Speaking to the folks over at Android Authority, Google recently confirmed that the Pixel Watch 3 cannot be repaired, and can only be replaced if it ever breaks. When asked about what users can do should their watch gets damaged, Google states:

If your device is damaged, you can contact the Google Pixel Watch Customer Support Team to check your replacement options.

A further query clarified that “Pixel Watch 3 is replacement only.” It should be noted that this isn’t anything new, as it was the same case with the first two Pixel Watch generations. On one hand, US buyers can avail Google’s “Preferred Care” which covers accidental damage and out-of-warranty issues, in addition to a $49 service fee and a replacement device.

Given the “environmentally-friendly” stance that Google and other major tech brands (such as Apple) have been championing in recent years though, this might come as a disappointment to some who want to hold corporations liable for such statements. Apple was even criticized for its “Mother Nature” ad from several months ago, with many questioning the Cupertino giant’s sincerity with sustainable manufacturing methods.

Going back to the Pixel Watch however, potential buyers might want to take this repairability issue into consideration if they’re planning on getting the watch.
