In terms of design, WhatsApp is kind of boring. Don’t get us wrong, it’s a very useful and functional app, but it’s not the most customizable compared to some other messaging apps. That is expected to change in a future update, according to the latest beta of the app as reported by WABetaInfo.
According to the report, it seems that WhatsApp could introduce more customization options in a future update. The company is apparently working on a default chat theme which will come with multiple design options for users to choose from. This includes backgrounds and also the color of the chat bubbles. Each of the themes will also have support for light and dark modes.
This could actually be a rather fun update. At the moment, WhatsApp customization options are mainly limited to the wallpaper of your chats, and that’s about it. It’s not the most exciting, but like we said, it doesn’t take away from the usefulness of the app. However, we imagine that some users might prefer being able to customize the look of their chats, so this could be an update to look forward to.
Keep in mind that the report is based on the Android version of WhatsApp. We imagine that the iOS version should receive a similar feature, but we don’t know when the update will roll out.
