With all the database breaches we’ve seen over the years, it’s probably safe to assume that your phone number is floating out there somewhere. This can lead to issues like spam through SMS or even messaging platforms like WhatsApp. Thankfully, WhatsApp users will soon have an easier time dealing with it.
According to a report from WABetaInfo, they have discovered in the latest version of the WhatsApp beta, the company is testing out a new feature. This new feature will basically allow users to block messages from unknown accounts. WhatsApp already allows blocking, but this is a mostly manual process.
This means that users will first have to receive the message and then choose to block them. With this feature, the message blocking is kind of automatic. Based on the caption, it says that messages from unknown accounts will be automatically blocked if they exceed a certain volume.
This should allow businesses to continue to operate and send messages to their customers, but at the same time it will affect spammers who are sending out messages en masse. The feature isn’t available yet as it can only be found in the beta for now, but it should be rolled out to users in the near future.
