Smart Replies in Gmail are about to get even smarter!

Gmail has a feature called Smart Replies. It basically suggests quick replies that you can fire off in an email if you’d rather not think about it. The only problem is that they can be quite short and curt-sounding. Thankfully, that will change as Google is introducing Gemini to Gmail’s Smart Replies feature.

For the most part, it will work the same. Gemini will analyze the email and then offer up slightly lengthier reply options. It will still be contextual, meaning that the AI will take into consideration the content of the email and then think of an appropriate response. Users are free to edit the message further if they prefer, or just send it as it is.

We have to admit that this is actually a pretty cool feature. It is also faster than asking AI like ChatGPT or Gemini to craft a response since it has already analyzed the contents of the email. This isn’t the first time Google is integrating Gemini into Gmail. The company had previously rolled out a Q&A feature that lets users ask the AI questions about an email.

The new AI-powered Smart Replies in Gmail is being rolled out as we speak. Google says that it should take about 15 days before it arrives for all users, so keep an eye out for it if you think that this is a feature that could be useful for you.
