Garmin’s watches are undeniably some of the best smart sports watches that you can get on the market, blending reliable performance with capable smart features for health and fitness tracking. With that said though, it looks like some users are reporting hardware problems with the new Garmin Fenix 8.
The issue was reported by the folks over at Tech Radar, after a user reached out complaining that several posts on the official Garmin forums have reported that their Fenix 8 models have acted strangely after being submerged in cold water, a condition which usually would not warrant issues given that Garmin watches are generally water-resistant. According to one of the posts:
My Fenix 8 AMOLED 47mm consistently crashes when the water temperature drops below 8°C. This is a significant issue where I live, as the water temperature often falls below that.
It should be mentioned that the reports so far don’t mention any completely broken devices, other than a temporary crash. Garmin still hasn’t released a statement regarding the issue at the moment, although this should hopefully be a patchable software issue.
