There are some features of YouTube that are locked behind the Premium subscription. One of those features is a sleep timer. The good news is that if you think that is a useful feature but don’t want to pay for YouTube Premium, then you’re in luck as YouTube has started to roll out new features for all users, including the timer.
For those unfamiliar, the sleep timer is a feature that lets users set a timer to stop video playback after a certain point in time. It is useful for those who want to put on a video and go to sleep, but don’t want it playing in the background all night either. It used to be a feature exclusive to Premium users, but now it’s available to all.
Other new features that YouTube has stated to roll out includes an updated miniplayer. This miniplayer can be resized and moved anywhere on the screen. These changes aren’t just for the web or mobile app either, the YouTube app for TV is also getting some updates with a more cinematic feel, and a redesigned video player for YouTube Shorts.
These changes should already be live so if you do spend a bit of time watching YouTube, then keep an eye out for these changes in both the web and mobile version of the platform.
