Earlier this year, Meta introduced its AI chatbot to WhatsApp. This basically gave users access to AI similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, where users could ask it questions and it would provide them with answers. This made it easier for users to look up certain topics or perform certain activities without leaving the app.
Now according to WABetaInfo, it seems that Meta is working on upgrading its Meta AI for WhatsApp with a feature called chat memory. According to what’s been discovered in the latest beta, it suggests that Meta AI can automatically remember parts of your conversation with it. Users can also specifically request for the AI to remember conversations by adding a “remember this” tag at the end of their requests.
The idea behind it is that by remembering the conversations users have had with it, Meta AI will be able to provide WhatsApp users with more custom and personalized responses. For instance, if you’re vegan, then future requests you make to the AI will take that into consideration, like restaurant recommendations, and so on.
For those who are concerned about privacy, you can relax. This is because users will retain full control over what the Meta AI remembers. Users can choose if they want to update certain data or delete data at any given point in time. The goal is to create a more personalized experience. The feature isn’t live yet but we imagine that it will be in a future update.
