The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is kind of a boring phone. Tech wise, it is an impressive handset, but for the most part a lot of the upgrades feel quite minor over its predecessor. Even the design and overall size is largely the same. This is why we can’t say we’re surprised to learn that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition turned out to be a smashing hit.
According to a report from Sammy Fans, it seems that Samsung announced that their initial inventory for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sold out in just 10 minutes. The company added that they are preparing additional units for sale, but basically it sounds like the phone is a huge success already, especially given its exorbitant price tag.
For those unfamiliar, Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition over in South Korea. The handset is an iteration of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but is thinner and lighter. It measures 10.6mm thick and weighs 236 grams. Given that there are other foldable phones that are thinner and lighter, we wondered why Samsung never implemented those features in the Galaxy Z Fold 6, at least until now.
We’re not sure if Samsung has plans to expand the availability of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Based on the demand in South Korea, clearly this is what Samsung fans have been waiting for. Hopefully they do bring the phone to more regions, but we’ll have to wait and see.
