There is without a doubt that Google Chrome is a fantastic browser. However, it isn’t without its issues. For instance, over the years, users have complained about how much resources the browser is hogging. The good news is that Google has announced a new update which introduces performance controls to Chrome.
One of the new features is a Performance Detection tool. This is where the browser can detect if any of your tabs are causing issues and offers a fix. This comes in the form of a popup notification (see screenshot below) that lets users know if a tab is consuming more resources than it should. According to Google, users can disable this feature if they prefer managing their browser’s performance manually.
There’s also an update to the Memory Saver option that can speed up your browsing experience. This is where Chrome will free up memory from tabs that are inactive. The feature now comes with more customization options that includes Moderate, Balance, and Maximum modes that you can pick from based on your own browsing habits.
These new Chrome performance controls should already be live, so make sure you’re updated to the latest version of the browser to check them out.
