If you have a Samsung Exynos phone, you could be susceptible to being hacked

There are multiple reasons why people do not enjoy Samsung’s Exynos chipsets. Now it looks like the haters just got one more good reason why, and that is they are susceptible to being hacked. This is according to an announcement by Samsung who has warned that several of its Exynos chipsets could be hacked.

According to Samsung, the affected Exynos chipsets include 9820, 9825, 980, 990, 850, and the W920. This basically covers devices like the Galaxy S10, S20, Galaxy Note 10, Note 20, Galaxy A21, Galaxy A51, Galaxy A71, the Galaxy Watch 5, the Galaxy Watch FE, and the Galaxy Watch 4.

If you happen to own any of these devices, Samsung is urging users to update to the latest security patch available which will hopefully fix the exploit. This is a dangerous flaw because if exploited, it would allow the hacker to gain system privileges to your device. Since it can disguise itself as a Samsung process, it isn’t as easily detected.

In the meantime, as always, try to stay away from apps downloaded outside of the Play Store as they may contain malware or code that could exploit the hack. Also, avoid clicking on suspicious links or downloading attachments from emails or messages. Those are just general security measures but it can go a long way in keeping your device safe.
