How to Fix Your Android Phone Slow Charging Issues

0

New Android smartphones charge at promised speeds but with time, you may end up wondering why is my phone charging slowly. Multiple reasons could lead to a smartphone charging slower than its typical charging speed. We understand that it can be a frustrating experience but you do not have to worry anymore. Here are 7 ways you can use to fix your Android phone’s slow charging issues.

Check Your Charger

The first thing you need to do is to check your charger aka charging adapter’s charging speed. Modern-age smartphones are capable of charging at insanely high speeds that can go as high as 100W. However, you need a compatible fast charger to achieve those high charging speeds. Make sure you have a charger rated with a charging speed equal to or more than the speed supported by your smartphone.

If you have the right charger and still facing slow charging, there might be an issue with the charging adapter and you might have to replace it.

Check Your Charging Cable

Charging cable is another important thing when it comes to charging a phone as quickly as possible. It is quite common for cables to get damaged or stop working properly after a while. Pay attention to the cable to check if there are any signs of wear and tear. You can also try using another cable with the charging adapter to determine if your cable is working as intended.

You should also ensure that you are using a charging cable from a reputed brand. Many cheaper and generic brand cables look good but do not work efficiently.

Check the Charging Port

If there is nothing wrong with your charger and charging cable, the smartphone’s charging port may be the real culprit. There could be dirt, sand, or debris affecting the port’s charging performance. Try charging the phone after cleaning the port with a brush or compressed air.

Another possibility is that your phone’s charging port may have been damaged after the day-to-day usage. There could be liquid/moisture or physical damage to the port. In such cases, it is advised you visit a professional technician (preferably an authorized service center) to get the port repaired.

Smartphone Getting Hot

It is not uncommon for smartphones to get hot while charging. Whenever this happens, phones tend to charge at lower speeds to keep themselves and the battery safe. If you are in a region or place with high temperatures, it is advised you look for ways to keep your environment cool. This is the reason you should avoid charging your phone in hot surroundings.

Check Power Source

A smartphone charges at its peak charging speed when plugged into an appropriate power source. It is the reason you may be charging your phone through a source unable to provide sufficient power for fast charging. We suggest trying different power sources to find the one that can help your phone charge quickly. You may need to get your wall outlet’s wiring checked to see if there are no issues.

Check Background Apps and Services

Apps and services are meant to make our lives easier and a lot more convenient. They are usually good at doing this but at times, you may encounter a buggy or unoptimized app that ruins the whole experience. Such apps and services tend to affect your phone’s charging speed and battery life too. This is because they are known to consume significant power while you keep scratching your head about slow charging speeds.

You should visit your phone’s settings to check battery usage for each app. See if any app or service is consuming more power than it should. If you find something, it is advised to either uninstall or stop background operations for that particular app/service.

Using the Phone While Charging

Many smartphone users have a habit of using their phones while charging. It usually does not cause any issues but things can change if you are performing intensive tasks. For example, gaming or streaming videos on your phone while it is charging. In such situations, your phone is likely to charge at a slower speed than usual. We suggest you do something else and let your smartphone charge peacefully.
