France is latest European country to get Google Play Books

7

After working through a set of legal disputes with French publishers, Google has made France the fifth European country to gain access to their digital bookstore, following launches in Germany, Spain, Italy, and the UK. Books are available via Google Play, which houses a library numbering in the millions, with many titles available for free as part of the public domain. The store also hosts a wide selection of bestsellers and time-honored literature, with French titles and international offerings alike.

For French Android users, this also means the Google Play Books app is now available, providing access to your library of downloaded books directly from your mobile device. Following in Google’s every screen model, any title in your library is also available for reading on a PC, iPhone, or iPad.

  1. Now the Play Music store is the last missing piece of the Google Play puzzle in France.

Hopefully Google is going faster than ever, as they must be trying to launch all their stores in the countries where they plan to sell the Nexus 7.

    1. Yes, at last…
Now Music but above all: Devices please!
      Oh, and what about Magazines?

      1. Oh yeah, Devices!!!
Since it doesn’t depend on any carriers or publishers agreements, I hope Devices will be the *automatic* next step once all the content Play stores will be available!

Arggg… Magazines too… So France needs 2 more content stores :-(

      2. I totally agree, devices please!

  2. Books, movies, music and voice….FOR the Netherlands!!!

But more importantly to me, I want Google maps to integrate tram timetables!
No use having Google now tell me the time it takes me with public transport when it doesn’t incorporate the trams I take instead of walking to train stations!

  3. I’m surprised that more countries aren’t jumping on the bandwagon with this stuff. They are missing out on a ton of ebook sales.

  4. I hope Google soon will tramp over the Danish publishers, and all the other segments in google play. Im sooo tired of all the laws regarding technology and copyrights etc in this country….Hell, ill soon emigrate somewhere else if the suckers dont see that we are falling behind…..
