Well, that didn’t take long. Officially released just today, the HTC One’s kernel source is now available for download via HTCDev. What does mean for you? Unless you like to tinker around with the software of your device, hacking, rooting, and modding — not very much. It definitely is nice to see HTC on top of things, supporting the dev community by dropping kernel sources on day one. Major props to them and hopefully this is sign of good things to come.

So I can root it easierly???
? same question? and more importanly how hard is it going to be to obtain S-off?
Not at all, unless someone finds a bug.
Buy a dev device. Show them people want unlocked device.
Better yet, buy a Nexus device :P
This just allows you to actually root the phone.. As far as I’m concerned.
What does this have to do with Usher and him being an amazing performer?
I don’t plan on tinkering w/mine just yet, but,I don’t see it listed for AT&T/SPRINT/T-MOBILE.Some of the Canadian versions are listed, but, unless I’m overlooking something,I don’t see it.
Cool kernel source code folder icon.
As long as it includes source code for the drivers too… This would really fast forward Cyanogenmod to HTC One!
It won’t. They only put a GPLed stub in the kernel then use a closed source user space driver. I wish Google would put their foot down on this BS. They don’t even do that on Nexus devices, so I can probably just keep dreaming.
don’t text and drive kids
